Recession and Recovery Conference

2/3/2010

Unionlearn is organising a conference in conjunction with The Manchester College as part of their Skills: Recession and Recovery Project.

The conference will be on Thursday 25 March 2010 (9.30am to 1.30pm) at The Manchester College's Openshaw Campus.

The aim of the conference is to raise awareness of the support and help that is available to unions and employers in responding to issues concerning the recession and redundancies.  The conference will feature speakers from The Manchester College, Job Centre Plus and unionlearn, and will look at how these other organisations can support unions, their members and employers to cope with the economic downturn.

The workshops session will give participants the opportunity to look at what practical support unionlearn and other partners can give their organisations to develop responses to the recession and to look at issues around re-training, upskilling, redeployment, funding opportunities and building links training providers and other partners.

The conference will finish with lunch and the opportunity to network with other participants. Given the need for a partnership approach to these issues we encourage union representatives to bring a person from their HR or Training Department to the conference and provide an excellent opportunity to raise the profile of learning in the work place.

An application form is available at: http://www.unionlearnnw-bulletin.org.uk/assets/R2R Conference Application Form.doc. The completed Application Form can be returned by email to pbury@tuc.org.uk.
