Check Before Returning to Work After a COVID-19 Test

Our Union has received a number of reports of employees being disciplined for returning to work whilst awaiting the result of a COVID-19 test, even when they have no symptoms of COVID-19.

Government advice is that, while waiting for your test and results you should remain at home and self-isolated.

Many employers have introduced policies that state employees cannot return to work after taking a COVID-19 test until they receive a negative test result, even when they have no symptoms.

The NHS website states that, even after receiving a negative test result, you should ╩╗Check with your employer before going back to work╩╝.

If, for any reason, you have a COVID-19 test, please inform your employer and ask for their policy on returning to work after a taking a COVID-19 test, even if you are expecting, or have received, a negative test result.
