URTU Members to take Strike Action at Matthew Clark Wholesale Ltd

United Road Transport Union (URTU) members will be taking strike action at Matthew Clark Wholesale Ltd, Runcorn, on Monday 22 August 2011.

The URTU members action comes after all efforts to reach agreement with the company, over pay and working conditions of the 21 URTU members employed at the Runcorn depot, were exhausted.

Monday's action will commence at 5am and is the first in a series of one day strikes, which will continue until the dispute is resolved. During this period of dispute, the URTU members, who are employed as drivers and mates at the depot, will also be ‘working to rule'.

URTU Regional Officer, Dave Swan, said;

"URTU members realise the seriousness of taking strike action. However, every step, short of strike action, has been explored to try and resolve this dispute. Unfortunately, the company have forced members into resorting to the only avenue left open.

"If the Company wish to enter into meaningful discussions to try to resolve this dispute, by improving their negotiated position, to meet members' expectations then, as a Union, we are willing to meet with the company to discuss their proposals, at any time and in any place of their choosing".
