For the road ahead

The Trade Union Co-ordinating Group (TUCG) brings together eleven national unions (BFAWU, FBU, NAPO, NEU, NUJ, PCS, POA, RMT, UCU and URTU) to co-ordinate campaigning activities in Parliament and beyond.

Aims and objectives:

  • The protection of working people's living standards by opposition to cuts in pay and pensions, the securing of a decent minimum wage and properly negotiated wage settlements
  • Opposition to the privatisation of public services and returning already-privatised sectors/services back into  public ownership with adequate investment and funding
  • The promotion of trade union rights, in particular the enactment of the Trade Union Freedom Bill
  • The promotion of equalities legislation to eliminate discrimination in pay, and conditions of employment
  • The promotion of a welfare state providing a decent living standard and dignity for those on social security, including a basic state pension rising in line with earnings
  • The setting of a new legislative framework for health and safety to ensure the laws and resources are available to secure quality of life at work.
  • The promotion of global justice, a sustainable environment and internationalism
