HeartUnions Week 8 - 14 February 2021

4/2/2021

The TUC, which URTU is an affiliated member, is running its annual HeartUnions week campaign from 8 to 14 February 2021. It's a chance to tell the story about why unions are vital for everyone at work and encourage people who aren't yet in a union to join.

It's a week that focuses on the good work that unions do, shows how unions offer everyone a voice at work, and raises the profile of unions in their communities.

On average, union members enjoy higher pay than non-members. They're also likely to have better sickness and pension benefits, extra paid holiday and more control over shifts and working hours.

This is because workers are better placed to negotiate fair pay and conditions when they're able to collectively negotiate through their union.

The Theme in 2021

Trade unions have been at the heart of efforts to tackle Covid-19, working tirelessly to protect workers and ensure their safety at work.

During HeartUnions week we want to demonstrate how brilliant unions are by showcasing all that they achieve for working people - especially during the pandemic.

Get involved

Due to Covid-19, this year's campaign will be online with a programme of digital content and events covering the work unions have done over the past year, and the positive impact they have on workplaces.

On social media we'll be using the hashtags #HeartUnions and #CaruUndebau.

The TUC have a dedicated website for HeartUnions which features all upcoming events for the week.
